Hello!
I’m Brian Morgan. I’m returning to school after more than a few years away. I find it odd that I’m excited about my return to school since my attitude the first time around was far from anything resembling enthusiastic. My wife and I are approaching our 17th anniversary. She graduated from UNT in 2006 and is working on her Masters at UTD. We have twin daughters, age 13, who keep us on the edge of insanity most of the time.
I’m a Consulting Systems Engineer for Cisco Systems specializing in Unified Communications. Essentially, I provide the technical side of a sales team and make sure the actual sales guy doesn’t mis-speak or set inappropriate expectations for our customers. I’ve been with Cisco for 3.5 years. My work with Cisco is my primary link to education, aside from being a student once again. My account coverage includes School Districts, Universities and State/Local governments in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
In this course, I hope to learn to better serve my customers through the use of technology and applications above and beyond what is currently in use today. I have specific ideas for application development and ways to assist my customers to transform the way they do business day to day.
My technology experience spans back over the last 18 years and includes a wide array of various server, network and internetwork related technologies. From 1997 to 2001, I held a position as a Cisco Instructor filling roles in both course delivery (in person and on-line) as well as course development.
I’ve published seven books on networking and voice-related technologies. Five of those were published by Cisco Press and the other two by Coriolis Press. In 1999, I obtained Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) certification, which I maintain presently.
I live in TX and travel a few days per week. I can be reached via email at bmorgan.at.ieee.org. I look forward to the course and the discussions in which we will engage.
